Located in West Wittering, this bespoke kitchen was created for a historic home dating back to the 12th century. Inspired by the building’s rich architectural heritage, the design combines natural materials, handcrafted cabinetry and contemporary functionality to create a space that feels entirely at home within its surroundings.
Smoked Oak Veneered Cabinetry
Preserving the original stone flooring was a fundamental part of the project. To avoid disturbing the centuries-old slabs, the floor remained entirely untouched, with power carefully routed through the existing grout joints before being concealed within one of the island’s solid timber legs. This discreet engineering solution made it possible to incorporate an induction hob into the freestanding island without compromising the historic fabric of the building—a thoughtful detail that perfectly reflects the balance between craftsmanship, innovation and conservation that defines the project.
Quartzite Taj Mahal
The work surfaces are crafted from Taj Mahal Quartzite with a leathered finish, chosen for its soft texture, subtle movement and exceptional durability. Throughout the kitchen, Armac Martin Gaumont handles in a SAS finish introduce refined detailing that complements the home’s historic character without overpowering it.
Bespoke Fluted Glass Dresser
A bespoke glazed dresser, integrated larder storage and open shelving provide a balance of concealed practicality and curated display, while carefully considered lighting enhances the texture of the natural materials and the building’s original architectural features.
